Kaoruko and Kazuaki have two children and a troubled marriage. One day, their daughter drowns in a local swimming pool and the doctor informs them that she is brain dead with little chance to recover. The couple has two choices: to donate Mizuho’s organs to others in need, or to wait until Mizuho’s heart stops beating. Their agonizing choice is further complicated when a young doctor arrives with an unusual new technology that may save her.
