Issei Day 2022

For 59 years the JCCC has held Issei Day. This is an opportunity for the JCCC Board of Directors to show their appreciation to all the seniors in our community. It is an event that we look forward to every year.

We are so disappointed but, for 2022, the JCCC has decided to not to hold the event in person. The current wave of covid seems to be highly contagious and we just don’t want to chance our community health.

BUT, the JCCC Board of Directors still wants to honour our seniors!

So once again, we are working on getting a FREE bento, to those that are 70 year or older, to enjoy at home. We have set up 5 locations throughout the GTA where you can book a time to pick up your bento. These locations will be at the JCCC (Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East), Momiji Health Care Society (Kingston Road and Markham Road), Japanese Gospel Church of Toronto (McNicol Avenue and Midland Avenue), Toronto Buddhist Church (Sheppard Avenue West and Allen Road) and Kyoda Plastics (Dixie Road and 401). All pick ups will take place in the parking lot and no access to the buildings will be permitted.

To register, click the red button below. Pick a preferred pick up location and time. Make sure to double check the time as we have made changes from last year due to our pick up locations return to regular programming.

Then fill in the form with your information (name, address, birthdate). If a family member or friend is picking up on your behalf, please make a note in the “Pick up instructions” section to let us know or we won’t be able to release your bento to them.

Bentos will be distributed on Sunday October 2nd.  You must still be 70 years of age or older to register. The number of bento and time slots are limited so please make sure that you register carefully.

Don’t delay! Supplies are limited and we distributed all available bento last year! The deadline to register is Monday September 26th.
