Sedai Oral History Workshops
Oral histories are an invaluable addition to the historical record; filling the gaps by adding the voices of ordinary people with extraordinary stories.
Become an oral historian by learning what questions to ask, how to talk about consent, and what equipment to use.
Facilitator: Karen Suzuki has been working with the Sedai Oral History Collection since January. Before joining the JCCC Heritage Team, she worked in film and television as a VFX project manager and has produced and directed several film projects, including a documentary about being half Japanese for which she interviewed her grandparents. Karen believes in learning by doing and strives to make her workshops as interactive and hands-on as possible. When not at the JCCC, Karen can be found teaching Wing Chun kung fu and drumming with RAW Taiko.
