RAVENS

“Shogun star Tadanobu Asano stars in a fascinating depiction of Fukase’s turbulent life and brilliant work... inventively told and lovingly packaged.” - Variety

Set in post-war Japan and New York, Ravens tells the tragic love story about legendary photographer Masahisa Fukase and his tumultuous and doomed relationship with wife and model, Yoko. Known for his striking, emotionally resonant imagery, Fukase's relationship with Yoko is depicted with raw authenticity while his inner turmoil is explored through surreal conversations with Tsukuyomi, a huge raven who questions his motives and desires. (Fukase’s collection Solitude of Ravens is considered one of the most important works in the history of the medium).

Asano and Takeuchi offer intense performances in this deeply emotional exploration of art, and the beauty and tragedy of human connection. Winner of the Audience Choice Award at the Austin Film Festival.
