MUSICOPHILIA

Based on Akira Saso’s popular webcomic, the film tells the story of Saku Urushibara, a young man with a special ability to understand sounds in nature. He also hears sounds from the shapes and colors of objects. His father and younger half-brother are both prominent, prodigious composers and, as a result, Saku suffers from an inferiority complex. He tries to stay away from music but he ends up enrolling at the University of Arts in Kyoto where his special ability helps him find his own voice in the world of contemporary classical music.

A moving and fascinating exploration into young people exploring their creativity and producing new and powerful music.
