TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
Though Yoko dreams of becoming a singer, she has resigned herself to life as a television reporter on a travel reality show. In search of a mystical fish, she and her crew visit an area in Uzbekistan which had prospered as a hub on the Silk Road. One day after filming Yoko wanders off into town and is drawn by a faint singing voice to a beautiful theatre and soon after her world begins to unravel.
An entertaining and often very funny tale of culture clash; at the same time a penetrating depiction of a young woman’s alienation and anxiety that finds director Kurosawa’s craft exploring new, mysterious, and deeply emotional realms.
