In this interview, Patricia “Pat” Adachi discusses how her grandparents immigrated from Tottori, Japan, and how she spent her childhood on Powell Street while her father owned a rooming house. She goes into detail about the atmosphere, people, and places of Powell Street, including Japanese language school, the Asahi Baseball team, and various small businesses. She also discusses how she has kept in touch with the people she knew from her childhood. She emphasizes her family’s involvement in community, particularly kenjin-kai, and how they maintained connections with other people who had immigrated from Tottori.
