The Ishizue Award Dinner 2023
The JCCC Board of Directors cordially invites you to join us for a night of celebration on Thursday November 23rd at 6:30pm honouring the 7th Ishizue Award honourees.
The Ishizue Award, meaning cornerstone or foundation, was created to pay tribute to the 75 families who in the early 60’s, at significant personal financial risk, guaranteed the original mortgage for the JCCC at 123 Wynford Drive. These families provided the foundation upon which the JCCC was built, and their support for the JCCC will forever be recognized as the cornerstone for who we are as a community.
The Ishizue Award acknowledges and expresses our appreciation and respect to members or friends of the Japanese Canadian community who have made exceptional contributions to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. Their contributions have supported the community locally, nationally, and globally.
In keeping with tradition, this year’s recipients are a very distinguished group of people who have made significant contributions to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. We are still finalizing some recipients but confirmed are:
Betty Lou Arai and Kay Oiye
Sam and Mary Kamo
Sam and Junko Yamamoto
Masanori and Kazue Yazu
Tak and Fumi Yoshida
Linda and Steve Oikawa
An intimate and elegant dinner to honour these distinguished award recipients is planned and we invite family, friends, and community to support this evening of celebration and recognition. In support of this dinner, the cost is $150 per person.
To order your tickets call JCCC Reception at 416-441-2345 or email jccc@jccc.on.ca by November 6, 2023. A ticket order form is can be downloaded from here.
