Community Article Submissions

Community Article Submission Guidelines

We are now accepting submissions for community articles to be featured in our aidagara newsletter, in our Community Corner e-blasts, or on other JCCC platforms! To be considered, please follow these guidelines:

Eligibility

To submit an article, you must have an active JCCC membership. All submissions must be related to the JCCC or our members. Possible topics include: Japanese Canadian people, history, and culture; Japanese culture in Canada; JCCC community events, etc.

For aidagara submissions

  • Submissions should focus on topics that are not time-sensitive, such as informative articles, interviews, personal stories, etc.
  • Due to space constraints, the maximum word count is 300 words in English or 450 characters in Japanese. If the article is too long, we reserve the right to edit it down until it is within the word limit. Articles that are submitted in one language may be translated into English or Japanese by our staff.
  • Submissions for the fall issue of aidagara must be received by Friday, July 24, 2026. Any submissions that are not published in the fall issue, may be shared in our Community Corner e-blast or considered for a future issue of aidagara.
  • Any images need to be at 300 dpi, with a minimum resolution of 2550 × 3300px.

For Community Corner e-blast submissions

  • Submissions can cover topics that are time-sensitive, such as discussing an upcoming event, or topics that are not time-sensitive.
  • We need to receive submissions for Community Corner e-blasts by the third Friday to be considered for the next monthly e-blast (For example, we need to receive a submission by the third Friday of June to publish it in our July e-blast).

Any article submissions or questions about these guidelines should be sent to newsletter@jccc.on.ca. Please attach the submission as a .doc or .docx attachment and any photos as .jpg or .png attachments. Although we aim to publish every submission, we reserve the right to decide if and how your submission is published—for instance, submissions may be edited for space or clarity, may not include all photos, or may be published in an e-blast rather than in aidagara.

Thank you for your interest in JCCC and we look forward to your submissions!
