Kuni Fukusaka was born Kuni Noguchi on October 10th, 1923, in Vancouver, British Columbia. This interview discusses Kuni Fukusaka and her family’s life in Vancouver before World War II, in Christina Lake and Slocan City/Bay Farm during the internment of Japanese Canadians, and in Guelph, Ontario, and Toronto, Ontario, post-war. Kuni discusses being a young adult during World War II and internment, and her office work at Hastings Park and the British Columbia Security Commission in Slocan City, and her secretary work in Toronto post-war. Her time in Toronto would be marked by the many Japanese friendships she had with individuals from Vancouver, Slocan, and local groups. She would meet and marry the late Ken Fukusaka in a Toronto nisei badminton club and have two daughters. Kuni Fukusaka (nee Noguchi)'s interview was conducted on November 25, 2011 by Lisa Uyeda.
