The interview is about Tomiko Kadonaga, starting with her childhood in Prince Rupert, discussing language stills and religion (including a story about her father's paranormal encounter with sea otters). She goes into detail on life in Prince Rupert and Port Essington, including, education, employment, marriage, and discrimination (such as being refused training as a nurse). She talks about her experiences during the war years, such as her extended family going back to Japan and going to Hastings Park. Tomiko goes into detail on conditions and generational difference at Hastings Park, before being sent to Ontario. She worked on a farm at Port Hope before being sent to Toronto. Her husband was the first Japanese Canadian to get permission to buy a house and own a business. She talks about life back in BC, including New Years Celebration, Japanese baths in the cannery bunkhouse, sports, and Japanese food. She ends the interview with reflections on redress, in addition to travels to Japan and command of Japanese.
