ln 2004 the JCCC created Sedai, the Japanese Canadian Legacy Project, with a goal of using oral histories to research and tell the history of Japanese Canadian history. Since then, Sedai has grown its collection to over 200 interviews. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all Sedai interviewees for sharing their life experiences for the benefit of future generations.
We are pleased to announce the launch of Sedai's online oral history catalogue to the public on May 1, 2021 so we can showcase the richness of the collection to community members and researchers. There will be two phases of launch: the first group of interviews to launch on this online catalogue will be interviews that had been recorded on physical tapes and the second group to be released in August 2021 will be interviews that had been recorded digitally. The online catalogue may include information such as description, topics, location, or interview transcripts for interviews that had been processed. Stay tuned for more details!
