Lily Omoto Nagahara was born in 1932 in Kitsilano, Vancouver, The interview is about Lily Nagahara and her family life in Kitsilano, Vancouver (prior to World War II); Hastings Park, Vancouver; Slocan City, British Columbia; Popoff, British Columbia (during World War II); and Toronto, Ontario (after World War II). She discusses her father’s working conditions as a landscaper in Kitsilano and then, as a knitter in Toronto. She attained a school education from Henry Hudson Public School and Jarvis Collegiate. She did a residency at the Toronto General Hospital’s School of Nursing before going on to work as a special duty nurse, a kindergarten teaching assistant, and North York Public Health. She is the last surviving of her siblings and spends times with her two granddaughters and regularly engages in reunions with coworkers.
