The subject of the interview is Shizuye Matsui (nee Kosaka). She starts with talking about her parents, as well as her childhood in Kitsilano and Vancouver. Subjects include Strathcona Public School, Japanese School and a trip to Japan. She talks about education in Lemon Creek, and includes a poem she wrote in Japanese class detailing how she felt about the events in her life thus far. Post war she discusses moving to Montreal, McGill University and the University of Toronto. Other topics discussed are her fathers love of checkers, her mother missing Japan, and picture brides.
