Tatsuo - a cranky but dedicated craftsman - and his daughter Haru run the traditional Takano Tofu Shop in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture. They begin their work before dawn every day, carefully selecting beans to make their tofu. While the days are peaceful, Tatsuo learns he is in poor health and worries about his daughter being alone after his death. With the help of friends, he sets about planning a secret matchmaking strategy to find Haru a partner before the spring. This gentle, heart-warming film, leavened with a delicious dash of humour, is a must for foodies and lovers of Japanese food culture.
