JCCC Foundation Japan Earthquake Relief Fund
The Japan Earthquake Relief Fund (JERF), administered by the JCCC Foundation, has since 2013, awarded 121 scholarships to 51 qualified undergraduate and graduate students from the Tohoku region, helping to finance their university education, with many more to come.
In addition to the scholarships, one time cash contributions have been made to the Canadian Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund and to the most affected prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima to support their youth education programs.
We continue to oversee the investment of donations raised by the JCCC to fund operations and to ensure good stewardship of the capital, enabling the JCCC to achieve its objectives.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 3/11 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, a special event is being planned at the Embassy of Canada in Tokyo, Japan in 2021 with recipients of contributions from the JERF.
