Description

In the interview, Kinzie Tanaka first describes the tragic accident in which his brother, George Tanaka, and his sister-in-law, Cana, were killed. He also details his childhood, as he was born in Yokohama, Japan, but came to British Columbia as an infant. During internment, Kinzie's family was moved to Lamprairie, where he worked as a surveyor for several areas within the British Columbian interior. Kinzie then describes his family history, including his father passing away when he was very young. Moving to Toronto after the war, Kinzie was very active in the Japanese Canadian community emerging in Toronto, and an advocate for the redress movement. He is the husband of Terry Tanaka.
