When Mio loses her parents in a disastrous flood in Osaka, she is forced to separate from her close childhood friend Noe. The two swear to find one another when they grow up. Ten years later, Mio has been taken in at Tsuruya, a soba restaurant in Edo where she shows off her impressive talent as a female chef. Meanwhile, Noe is now a mysterious oiran (high-ranking courtesan) known as Asahi. But the two have never forgotten their promise to reunite.

Based on Takada Kaoru's beloved novel this Edo era story of friendship and food is a popular crowd-pleaser.
