Layering colours, textures, shapes and architectural elements onto her canvasses, artist Gloria Kagawa has created a diverse body of artwork in her portfolio, ranging from specific to abstract. Her mixed media work that encompasses painting, drawing, photography, and printmaking will be on exhibit at the JCCC Gallery from August 18th to October 24th, 2018.

A Japanese Canadian based in New Hamburg, Ontario, she studied Japanese calligraphy and Chinese brush painting and occasionally incorporates these elements into her works. Her work has been shown in exhibitions in Canada, but also in Brazil, Poland, Holland, Taiwan, the USA, and in Japan.  She was voted Waterloo Region’s Visual Artist of the Year in 2011.
